Janizary Drum

Janitscharentrommel

The "Janizary Drum" is similar to the "Landknechtstrommel" with calf heads & rope tensioning. This type of drum has its origin from the "Janizaries", the elite troops of the old Turkish Infantry.
Today it would be un-imaginable not to have this instrument available for the so-called Turkish operas like "Pilgrims of Mekka", "Iphigenie in Aulis", and "The Abduction from Seraglio"
